Ordering a custom cake can sound like a complicated step in many people's minds — as if you have to know everything before you send the first message. The opposite is true. The order process at Homeyda is a simple conversation that starts with a short message and reaches a cake on your table in five steps.
This note walks through those five steps transparently. Everything you might want to know before ordering, with a real timeline and the questions we will ask at each stage.
Step 1 — the first message
Start from wherever feels easiest: Instagram direct @homeyda, WhatsApp, or Telegram. The number is on the main page of our website. In the first message, include these five things:
1. Event date (birthday, wedding, anniversary, anything else). 2. Estimated guest count. 3. Theme or general feel of the cake (vintage, minimal, cartoon, fresh flowers). 4. One or two inspiration photos from Pinterest or Instagram (optional but helpful). 5. Dietary restrictions of close guests, if any.
If you don't know some of these yet — no problem. Even a one-line message with an approximate date is enough to start the conversation. Send whatever you have; we start from there.
Step 2 — first sketch and price estimate
Usually within a few hours (during working hours, sometimes the same moment), we come back with a first sketch. It is either a quick hand-drawn rough or a similar photo of a cake we have made before. Alongside, a price estimate based on weight, design complexity, and special materials.
Our pricing is transparent and itemised. Every add-on (fresh flowers, structural fondant, custom topper) is listed separately. This sketch and estimate is not binding — you can ask for a revision or say "this is not what I had in mind". We start again.
"We keep this stage open — no hidden price, no commitment. The goal is finding the right cake for you, not selling at any price."
Step 3 — refining flavour and design
Once you agree on the overall direction, we move to detail: flavour of each tier (vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, damask rose, saffron, red velvet, or combination), filling (white chocolate cream, dark ganache, jams, cream cheese), exact size, final colour, and message on the cake (if any).
For important cakes (weddings, big anniversaries), you can also ask for a tasting session — we prepare a few small samples of the suggested flavours so you can try them before the final decision. This step is not free (it covers the cost of sample ingredients), but for expensive cakes it gives you peace of mind.
Step 4 — confirm with deposit
A 50 percent deposit locks your date in our calendar. The deposit can be paid by card-to-card transfer, alongside a venue photoshoot, or in person in Shiraz. The remainder is paid on delivery day.
From this moment your cake is officially on our schedule. You can message at any time with questions — if you change your mind, minor adjustments (colour, message, one tier's flavour) are possible up to a week before delivery. Major changes (full theme change) may carry an additional cost, but we always tell you transparently.
Step 5 — delivery on the day
On delivery day, an hour before the agreed time, we send you a message: "We are on the way". Delivery to home or venue in central Shiraz is free. For distant neighbourhoods (Sadra, Khaniaman), a small fuel charge applies.
The cake travels in a temperature-controlled car. Cakes from two tiers up are assembled on site — meaning the tiers travel separately and are stacked at your address, so they don't suffer in transit. Assembly takes fifteen to thirty minutes and you can see the final photo right then.
Frequently asked
How far ahead to order? One week minimum, two weeks ideal for complex designs, six weeks in wedding peak season. How much does it cost? Depends on weight and complexity. The initial estimate in step two is free and non-binding. What if the cake arrives damaged? On delivery day, if the cake has a flaw due to us (not transport by you), we either return and fix it, or refund. In four years, this has happened twice — both resolved.
Ordering a custom cake, in the end, is a conversation. Not a long online form, not multiple phone calls. Just one message, a few replies, and a cake that brings the memory to your table.
